One day, a poor young man who sold merchandise door to door to pay for his studies, saw that he only had a simple ten-cent coin left and he was hungry.
He decided that he would ask for food at the next house.
However, when a young woman opened the door for him, instead of food, he asked for a glass of water.
As the young man looked hungry, she gave him a large glass of milk.
He drank slowly and then asked her:
-How much do I owe you?
-You owe me nothing - she answered.
–Then he said:
-Well, I thank you with all my heart.
When that young man whose name was Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt physically stronger, but also his faith in God was strengthened.
He was already determined to give up and leave everything.
Time passed and years later, that young woman became ill with a rare disease.
The doctors in her city could not help her, and so she had to go to a hospital in the big city, where they called a specialist to examine her.
They then called Dr. Howard Kelly.
When the doctor learned the name of the city the patient came from, a light filled his eyes.
He immediately went to see the patient and recognized her.
He then began to give her special attention.
After a long struggle for that woman's life, he won the battle.
Dr. Kelly asked the hospital administration to send him the total bill for all her expenses, wrote something and had it delivered to the patient's room.
She knew it would be a very high bill and would take a long time to pay.
And when she opened the bill, something caught her attention, as it was written: "
Fully paid many years ago with a glass of milk signed: Dr. Howard Kelly."
Tears of joy ran from that woman's eyes and her happy heart prayed like this:
"I thank you my God, because your love is manifest in the life of he who does good to his neighbor."
"In the lives of God's children nothing happens by chance.
What you do today will make a difference in your life tomorrow."
