Introduction
According to Corinthians 11: 6 it speaks of clipping or shaving oneself.
The great question asked in most churches is whether one can shave, clip, or cut the ends, for some churches this is a thing of the past hair does not influence salvation, what God wants and looks at is the heart. And in other churches long hair does influence salvation.
Let us see what the Portuguese language dictionary says what it means to shave oneself (become bald) clip oneself (cut close to the scalp, without shaving it) and the ends? This is what we will see in this study.
What does the Old Testament say about men's hair and women's hair.
There was the Nazirite (one who could not pass a razor through his hair the Nazirite was male)
Nm 6.5, Jz 13.5, I Sm 1.11.
The priests were to clip their hair and could not let their hair grow long.
Ez. 44.20
However most men wore long hair like women's and this was accepted among the tribes and all people.
Absalom had long hair like a woman's and converting the weight to today it weighed approximately 2 kilos.
2 Sm 14 . 25 e 26
Solomon had curls in his hair and his bride flattered him.
Ct 5 .11
Women's hair was long from the Old Testament to the New Testament see:
Ct 4. 1, Apoc 9.8, I Cor 11. 15.
Not shaving or clipping in the Old Testament was not seen what was seen in the New Testament, so let us address some women who cut their hair as happened in the New Testament and this custom invaded the modern church without any fear.
From Malachi to the book of Matthew biblical studies say in theology colleges that we were in a period of 400 years without prophet and without prophecy and the scriptures say without prophecies the people become corrupted see:
Prov 29 .18.
Women no longer went to churches with a veil and passed a razor through their hair see
They did not want to wear a veil
I cor 11. 5 e 6.
He said (Paul) that if it is an indecent thing to clip or shave oneself let her wear a veil.
It is a scale of dishonor, without a veil, dishonors man, Christ and God.
I cor 11. 3, I cor 11. 5.
The veil is authority and hair is honor that honor of submission to her head (man)
I cor 11. 10, I cor 11. 15.
A spirit of Vashti entered into women and did not want to be submissive to man it was the same as what happened in the reign of king Ahasuerus and if he had not taken drastic action they would have taken the head that God gave to Adam there in the reign of Ahasuerus.
Gen 1.26, Est 1 from 10 to 22 worth reading.
Short hair on a man is a sign of submission to his God
I cor 11.3 e 14.
And for a woman to have long or grown hair is submission to man
I cor 11. 5.
In Summary
The order for women is:
Do not shave
Nor clip
I cor 11. 6
And what about cutting only the ends is it sin?
When you pass a razor through your hair cutting only the ends.
Can I say that you shaved your head? Certainly not.
So what is not shaving is clipping ok? I ask you will you cut the ends of your honor sister?
There are only two languages in this sense what is not shaving is clipping
Based on the speech of king Solomon the man with great wisdom and knowledge
He said in Cant 4. 1 that the hair of his beloved was like goats on the mountains of Gilead.
If I took only the sheep that came at the ends to the domains of king Solomon what would I have done did I shave Solomon's flock or did I clip the flock? (laughs)
May you all remain in the peace of the Lord Jesus and I hope to answer your questions whatever they may be a kiss on the heart of all of you who read this matter and the others, a strong hug your Pastor Everaldo Silva – Church that is in Leme – SP working in the Restoration Work.
