Teacher Ana Maria asked her students to write a composition about what they would like God to do for them. Later that night, while correcting the compositions, she comes across a text that deeply moves her. Her husband enters at that moment and sees her crying, so he asks: "what happened?" She handed over a boy's composition and replies: "read it"! The text said:
"Lord I ask you for something special: transform me into a television. I want to take its place, to live as the television lives in my house. To have a special place and to gather my family around me. To be taken seriously when I speak. To be the center of attention and to be listened to without interruptions or questions. To receive the same special care that the television receives when it doesn't work.
To have my father's company when he arrives home, even if he's tired, and for my mother to seek me out when she's alone and bored instead of ignoring me. And for my siblings to argue to spend some moments with me. And finally, for me to be able to entertain everyone.
Lord, I'm not asking you for much, I just want to live what any television lives!".
We live in a world that offers a thousand distractions and entertainments. Seduced by this wave of pleasures, we let ourselves be carried away, we allow so many small things to fill our lives, our time, and we end up leaving what is most important aside; the people God left us to care for and love.
We need to give up our well-being, come out of our shell and touch those around us, showing them that they are very loved, accepted and appreciated, especially our children.
To love as God loved is man's supreme mission. Do the following: turn off the television today and simply give yourself as a gift to those around you. Tell them how beloved they are, open your heart without shame or prejudice.
May the Lord Jesus be present in your life.
