The celebration of Passover was born at the departure of God's people from Egypt, to commemorate their liberation, also known as the Feast of Unleavened Bread, (EX 23:15) - You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib; because you came out of Egypt; and no one shall appear before me empty, it began at the departure of God's people from Egypt, (EX 13:3), and Moses said to the people: Remember this day in which you came out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; for with a strong hand the Lord brought you out; therefore you shall not eat leavened bread, (bread that has risen or contains leaven), Unleavened bread was the symbol of purity, nothing could be offered to the Lord that contained leaven, (LV 2:11), No grain offering that you offer to the Lord shall be made with leaven; because you shall offer no leaven or honey as a food offering to the Lord.
Understand well, beloved! Of everything that was offered to the Lord, it could not contain leaven, see the examples below and meditate, for God's word must be obeyed, we must understand the Lord's revelation, and not copy what the denominations do, for we have the revelation, and we do not walk by the will of man and his principles, but by the revelation that is in God's word.
(Malachi 1:6,7), A son honors his father, and a servant his master; and if I am a Father, where is my honor? Says the Lord of Hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name and have said: In what way have we despised your name? You offer polluted bread upon my altar, and say: In what way have we profaned you? By saying that the Lord's table is contemptible.
If in the celebration of the supper bread is offered that contains leaven, as the body of the Lord, then certainly whoever does this is making the Lord's table unclean, meditate the body of Christ does not contain leaven, for leaven symbolizes sin, meditate, beloved, on the holy word, and do according to the Lord's commandment, and not according to men.
(EX 23:18), You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread. (bread that contains leaven), You could not use leavened bread, (with leaven). The blood of the sacrifice for us today is the wine, then beloved, the blood that is represented by wine cannot be offered with leavened bread (that contains leaven).
(LV 23:6) - And on the fifteenth day of this month is the Lord's Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. See! You shall eat Unleavened Bread, it was not bread with leaven, for bread with leaven served for their daily nourishment, but not at the time when they celebrated the Passover to the Lord.
(EX 13:4) Today, in the month of Abib, you came out. See! It was in the month of Abib that they came out of Egypt, and it was in that same month that they celebrated the Passover, that is! Once a year, Remember that the Jewish calendar does not have variations like our calendar, which is why in our calendar the Lord's Supper should be administered between the months of March and April, and the Lord's commandment is that this word be kept year after year, the Passover feast is commemorated once a year, (EX 13:10), Therefore you shall keep this statute at its appointed time, from year to year. (LV 23:5), In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, is the Passover of the Lord. See well! It was not every day, nor every week, nor much less once a month, but from year to year, that is the Lord's commandment.
It was necessary to sacrifice a lamb for each family, if the family was small, it would be one lamb for two families, (Exodus 12:1, 5), there could be no waste, for the Lord God never pleased with believers who waste what they possess, so each family had to kill a lamb and if the lamb was too much for the family, then two families had to share the lamb. This is how the Jews did at the celebration of Passover, but with the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ some things were changed. For in him the law and the Passover were fulfilled.
The Last Passover and the Lord's Supper
In the book of Matthew 26:17, the text speaks of the last Passover and the Lord's Supper, that is: here was the last Passover, and here the Lord's Supper began, for here was the beginning of the supper, the lamb of the Old Testament left and Jesus entered the lamb that died in our place, the blood of the lamb that was poured on the people for purification left, and the blood of Christ entered, the Lamb of God that was shed for our sins, and now the Lord's Supper is celebrated with unleavened bread as a symbol of the body of Christ and the wine of the vine, as the blood of Christ.
We know that Passover was celebrated from year to year, as we can confirm in Exodus 12:1 to 14 and 13:10.
Keeping in mind that it is in remembrance, we can understand that it is a commemoration, like Soldier's Day (in remembrance of soldiers), it is a commemoration celebrated once a year, just like a birthday. The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:24 and 25, makes it clear that it is in remembrance of the Lord.
The month in which Passover was held was the month of Abib, in the Jewish calendar, which in our calendar is approximately the month of April.
Another detail is that in no Biblical text do we see a change in the period of celebration of Passover or the Lord's Supper.
With the coming of the Master to this earth, He Himself wished to participate in Passover, and said this to his disciples who soon took interest in preparing it.
(LC 22:15), And he said to them: I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; the desire of the Lord Jesus to be present at his supper, but for Him to be present, it is necessary that everything be done according to his will.
(MT 26:17), And, on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying: Where do you want us to make the preparations, so that you may eat the Passover? See well! The disciples asked the Lord where He wanted them to make the preparations for Passover, that is! They placed themselves at the disposal of the Master, to his desire and his will, they did not care what others wanted, or thought, but what the Lord Jesus wanted, let it be so with you too, place yourself at the disposal of the Lord Jesus.
(LC 22:8), And he said to Peter and John, Go, prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it. This prepare for us, is not only about the place, but about the whole supper, they went to prepare the supper, in the way it was to be done, with unleavened bread, and this commandment is for each of us as well, go and prepare.
(LC 22:12), Then he will show you a large furnished upper room; prepare it there. Here the Lord Jesus speaks about a man who gave his establishment for them to prepare the Passover, Wherever it is, in a temple, in a house, under a tree, inside a boat, or even if it is in space, but, the duty is to make all the preparations, nothing can be missing. (LC 22:13), And when they went, they found it as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover.
Beloved, certainly the bread from the bakery that contains leaven, is necessary for our nourishment, there is no problem at all, but to serve as the body of Christ, it does not! For we have the ability to make unleavened bread, without leaven, that tale of nonsense that many tell that if you pray the Lord purifies, that is not true, for we can do it the right way, if you take a cup of poison not knowing that this cup contains poison and you have your life on the altar, you will not die if you drink it, as it says in the book of Mark 16:18, but if you know that the cup has poison and pray believing that you will not die if you drink it, you will be tempting God, then you will wake up, I won't even tell you where...
When I was part of a denomination, and was the treasurer, I was responsible for buying the so-called supper wine to present as the symbolic blood of Christ, to save money I would buy the cheapest juice-powder I could find, now do you think God was pleased with that? But when I had the revelation, I left the things of men, and now I do according to the Lord's word.
Many say that by praying God transforms, will he? You can squeeze the grape and make the wine for the supper, everything you can do, that is, prepare, so prepare, and stop this business of trying to deceive God.
Christ Our Passover
Beloved, see that the beast and the multitude of its commerce try to deceive God's people, for analyze, many of the so-called believers, participate in the month of Passover in the same way as the beast and its commerce, for in the month of Passover there is the idea that the rabbit is the symbol of Passover, because the so-called Easter egg is the biggest mark of this commerce in the whole world, do not be deceived, for we know that neither the rabbit, nor its so-called Easter egg, were ever symbols of Passover, do not be deceived, saying that this is no problem, that one is not either, for this is a mockery of God's word, for Christ our Lord, He indeed, is the true and only emblem of Passover.
(1CO 5:7), Cleanse yourselves, therefore, of the old leaven, so that you may be a new batch, as you are unleavened. Because Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Like the Passover lamb, he was without blemish.
Christ, the lamb that, without blemish and without defect, was offered once for us, if the goat and the lamb of the Old Testament were offered each year, the Lord Jesus in one time gave himself to death and the death of the cross for us, like the Passover lamb, that is why the apostle affirms, Christ our Passover. Therefore today we do not eat bitter herbs, nor do we kill a lamb, for our God gave himself for us transforming Passover into the Lord's Supper.
(EX 12:5), The lamb, or goat, shall be without blemish, (1PE 1:18), Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your vain manner of living that you received by tradition from your fathers.
Come out of tradition or wrong customs, and obey Christ, because it was he and not the pastor, the family, the denomination, but Christ Jesus, so obey Him and his holy word.
(1PE 1:19), But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Let us celebrate the Lord's Supper, with all our heart, in all holiness, and in the way the Lord desires, in sincerity and in the truth of his holy word.
(1CO 5:8), Therefore let us keep the feast, not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Be sincere before the Lord, for the more obedience the more blessings.
The Foot Washing
(JO 13:2), And when supper was ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray him.
(JO 13:3), Jesus, knowing that the Father had put all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God.
(JO 13:4), Rose from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
(JO 13:5), Then he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.
(JO 13:6) - Then came he to Simon Peter: and Peter said unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
(JO 13:7), Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
(JO 13:8), Peter said unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
(JO 13:9), Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
(JO 13:10) - Jesus said to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
(JO 13:11), For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
(JO 13:12), So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
(JO 13:13), Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
(JO 13:14), If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
(JO 13:15), For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
(JO 13:16), Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
(JO 13:17), If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
Analyze the text well! And when supper was ended, note carefully what the Lord Jesus did when the Bible reports the end of supper, supper means, the evening meal, so after they partook of the body and blood of Christ, the Lord Jesus took a basin, poured water and began to wash the disciples' feet with the towel with which he was girded, and when he came to Peter, Peter said to the Master, Thou shalt never wash my feet, Jesus said to him: “What I do thou knowest not now, but thou shalt know hereafter”. Many say that washing feet after supper was a Jewish custom, no, it was not, for if it were, Peter would not have interrupted the Lord, being he a Jew.
After the Lord Jesus washed everyone's feet, he began to speak to them, Know ye what I have done to you, Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. Analyze the word Jesus is Lord and Master, If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet, many say that it is humiliation to wash your brother's feet, no! It is not humiliation, but a sign of humility, which is quite different. But if the Lord Jesus washed feet, why do many want to be greater than Him, and do not want to wash their brothers' feet, for it is the Lord's commandment and not a custom as many say, see what the Lord Jesus ordered: If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
Ye also ought! This word is imperative, it is an ordinance, it is a commandment, and because many do not obey, saying that it is a custom, no! It is not, this is the will of Our Lord and Savior, so we must fulfill it. Ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
There are people who want to be greater than the Lord Jesus, not obeying his word, for if the Lord and master washed feet why don't you do the same, for the servant is not greater than his lord, nor he that is sent greater than he that sent him. Now if you are greater than the master, which I believe you are not, do according to your own will, but if you say you are a faithful servant, obey God's word in everything.
After this passage the church continues to obey God's word, see and analyze! (1TM 5:9), Do not enroll a widow unless she is over sixty years old, and has been the wife of but one husband;
(1TM 5:10), Well reported of for good works; If she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
Note! If she have washed the saints' feet, this passage tells us that women should also participate in the whole supper, that is! The sister should wash the feet of the saints, for the Lord's commandment is, ye also ought to wash one another's feet, there can be no kind of division in the midst of the church, but in all things we should share with our brothers. Wash one another's feet.
We must obey God and not men, meditate on this study and seek to please the Lord Jesus, for He is the only one who can save you, but! If you obey his commandments. Come out from the midst of apostasy, from the customs of the beast and from false prophets, and serve only the Lord Jesus.
