There were, high up on the mountain, three small trees that dreamed of what they would become when they grew big.
The first one, looking at the stars, said: I want to be the most precious chest in the world, full of treasures. For this, I am even willing to be cut down. The second looked at the stream and sighed: I want to be a great ship to transport kings and queens. The third tree looked at the valley and said: I want to stay here high on the mountain and grow so much that when people look at me, they lift their eyes and think of God.
Many years passed and one day three woodcutters came and cut down all three trees, all eager to be transformed into what they dreamed. However, the woodcutters did not know about the trees' dreams… What a pity!
The first tree ended up being transformed into an animal manger, covered with hay. The second became a simple and small fishing boat, carrying people and fish every day. And the third, even dreaming of staying high on the mountain, ended up being cut into thick beams and placed to the side in a storage room. And all three asked themselves, disillusioned and sad: "I dreamed so much for this?"
But, on a certain night, full of light and stars, where angels were singing a beautiful melody in the sky, a young woman placed her newborn baby in that animal manger. And suddenly, the first tree realized that it contained the greatest treasure the world had ever seen…
The second tree, years later, ended up transporting a man who fell asleep in the boat, but when the storm almost sank the small boat, the man stood up and said to the churning sea: "Be still". And in an instant, the second tree understood that it was carrying the King of Heaven and Earth.
Some time later, on a Wednesday, the third tree was startled when its beams were joined in the shape of a cross and a man was about to be nailed to it. Soon, it felt horrible and cruel, for its destiny was totally opposite to its dream. When the man died nailed to it for the last time, it saw that God Himself was there. But on Sunday, the world vibrated with joy and the third tree understood that it had been used so that God would save humanity, and that people would always remember God and His sacrifice when they looked at a cross.
The trees had dreams, but their fulfillment was a thousand times better and wiser than they had imagined.
All of us have our dreams, our plans, and sometimes they do not coincide with the plans that God has for us. And we are almost always surprised by His generosity and mercy. Therefore, it is important that we understand that everything comes from God and believe that we can trust in Him, for He, as a loving Father, knows what is best for each one of us.
May God bless you richly!!!
