To blaspheme is to utter blasphemies, that is, to use words that outrage divinity or something respectable. Outrage is serious offense; insult; offense to dignity.
Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is anything that offends Him or does not accept His dignity. The curses that some human beings direct at the Holy Spirit is blasphemy. Denying the Holy Spirit by not wanting to give Him His due place can be an offense to His dignity and constitute blasphemy.
