When the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 28:19, about baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, he was there in Galilee, Matthew 28:10 Then Jesus said to them: Do not be afraid; go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me. In Matthew 28:19, there was a commandment an ordinance and not a baptism, for repentance and remission of sins should be preached in all nations beginning in Jerusalem, and not in Galilee, see; Joel 2:32, because, on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the Lord has said, and in the remnant, whom the Lord shall call, The Lord spoke to them. And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: Stay, however, in the city of Jerusalem, until you are clothed with power from on high, Luke 24:47, See,
The Lord Jesus speaks to the disciples, stay in Jerusalem, And in his name repentance and remission of sins should be preached in all nations, beginning in Jerusalem, see! Beginning in Jerusalem, then beloved, when the Lord Jesus gave the ordinance of baptism, in Matthew 28:19, there was no baptism there, believe this, and another, in Luke 24:45, was where the Lord Jesus opened the understanding of the disciples, to understand the Scriptures, for until then, they had not understood the word of God, then he opened their understanding, to understand the Scriptures. Ask the Lord to open your understanding so that you can understand the Scriptures, for certainly in this study, we will report on a subject that will certainly touch and destroy your knowledge.
In Acts of the apostles, chapter two, the Bible tells us about the first conversions, it was there in Jerusalem that the first baptism took place, where almost three thousand souls were baptized, Acts 3:41, receive this word of God in good faith also, that is, with all your heart.
The Lord spoke to them. And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: Stay, however, in the city of Jerusalem, until you are clothed with power from on high, Luke 24:49, to begin to execute the word of God, you must be clothed with power, then they went to Jerusalem, and there they stayed in prayer, gathered in one place, Acts 2:1, And, the day of Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all gathered in the same place; and suddenly they were filled with the power of God, that is with the Holy Spirit, Acts 2;4, And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other tongues, as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance.
And there in Jerusalem there was at the moment the feast of harvests, where each one brought the fruits of the land to present at that feast, and there, in Jerusalem, dwelt people of various nations of the world, Acts 2:5, And in Jerusalem were dwelling Jews, religious men, of all nations that are under heaven.
Note well beloved, while they were filled with the power of God, the power was so great that the people who were at the feast, heard them glorify God, the power of God, destroys any feast! And all came there where they were, to see what was happening, read, Acts 2:6, And, that sound having run abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because every man heard them speak in his own language. Note well that multitude heard them speak in their own languages in which they were born, see well! what the Bible reports about the nations that were there, were: Parthians and Medes, Elamites and those who dwell in Mesopotamia, and Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia and Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and parts of Libya, along with Cyrene, and sojourning Romans, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs, we have all heard them in our own languages, speaking of the great works of God, some say that Peter is who was speaking, the Bible does not say that! For they were speaking the great works of God! The Bible says that all were filled with the Holy Spirit, see well! All, including Peter.
And all were amazed and were in doubt, saying one to another: What does this mean?
This beloved is the will of God, God's plan for the salvation of those who believe, who accept his word, as it is, who deny their knowledge, and come to believe only and with all your heart, and practice only what the Lord Jesus reveals. Do not be like those who mock, but accept the word, and practice it.
1 Acts 2:14, Peter, however, standing up with the eleven, and said, that what was happening was said by the prophet Joel, Acts 2:16,21, and in the last days it will come to pass, says God, that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams;
And also upon my servants and upon my handmaidens I will pour out of my Spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy.
1 And I will show wonders in the heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.
2 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come;
And it shall come to pass that everyone who invokes the name of the Lord shall be saved.
See how the prophecy of Joel ends, And it shall come to pass that everyone who invokes the name of the Lord shall be saved. Everyone who invokes the name of the Lord shall be saved, to be saved beloved, it is necessary to invoke the name of the Lord, this invoking the name of the Lord, does not refer to calling, or asking for help, but is referring to salvation, through the invocation of the name of the Lord, for see well: upon all flesh the Spirit of the Lord would be poured out, this is a promise of God, and God is faithful to his word, many prophesy in the name of the Lord, preach in the name of the Lord, heal in the name of the Lord, reveal in the name of the Lord, cast out demons in the name of the Lord, but do not baptize in the name of the Lord, the Bible reports that everyone who invokes the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The invocation of the name of the Lord for salvation, comes through Baptism in waters, when the name of the Lord is invoked, now comes the question, what is the name of the Lord, so that it can be invoked?
Luke 24:47, and in his name repentance and remission of sins should be preached in all nations, beginning in Jerusalem, repentance is achieved after hearing the word of God, and repenting, believing that you are a sinner, remission of sins is found after repenting, and being baptized in the name of the Lord.
Luke wrote in his name, that is, in the name of the Lord Jesus, where repentance and remission of sins are found. Luke 24:47.
After Thomas converted declared, recognized who the Lord Jesus is, John 20;28, Thomas answered, and said unto him: My Lord, and my God, look there the name of the Lord, to be invoked, Thomas said, My Lord, whom did he call My Lord? Jesus! This is the name of the Lord, Lord Jesus Christ.
1 See also, what all tongue will confess, about who the Lord is, Philippians 2:10,11, That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of those that are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth,
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord, for the glory of God the Father. Jesus Christ, this is the name of the Lord which the prophet Joel reported, that everyone who invokes the name of the Lord shall be saved.
See what the angel of the Lord said to Joseph: Matthew 1:23, And she shall bear a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for he shall save his people from their sins,.
The text says; and He will save his people from their sins, note well, He will save his people, note the prophecy of Joel, and everyone who invokes the name of the Lord shall be saved, the manner by which the Lord Jesus, saves his people is through baptism in waters, see what is written in the book of Mark 16:15, He that believes and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believes not shall be damned.
See well, he that believes and is baptized shall be saved, note; salvation is really through faith, when one believes in the Lord Jesus, and through baptism, he that believes and is baptized shall be saved.
See also: what Ananias spoke to Saul in the book of Acts 22:16, And now, why do you delay? Rise, and be baptized, and wash away your sins, invoking the name of the Lord.
Note well the revelation that Ananias servant of the Lord delivered to Saul, Rise, be baptized and wash away your sins invoking the name of the Lord. Compare with the prophecy of Joel, Joel 2:32; And it shall come to pass that everyone who invokes the name of the Lord shall be saved, we have already seen what the name of the Lord is, then we know in what name to baptize, Saul received baptism in the name of the Lord, in name and not in names!
When in the book of Matthew 28:19, the Lord Jesus speaks to us about baptism, there He speaks to us in a type of parable, Mark 4:11: And he said unto them: Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables, Pray to God that this word of salvation may be revealed to you, for whoever does not understand it and does not practice it, is not a disciple of the master, see this explanation of Matthew 28:19.
Therefore, go, teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; see well! The word speaks baptizing in name, singular, and not names, plural; we already know that salvation, invoking in him the name of the Lord, thus the word tells us in the book of Acts 4:12, And in no other is there salvation, for neither is there another name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Meditate on that! Salvation only in the name of the Lord Jesus, in no other name is there salvation, there is no other name given among men by which we should be saved, there is no other than in the name of the Lord Jesus.
In the name of the Father.
In the name of the Father, first, father is not a proper name of a person! Father is a common noun that indicates a person who has a proper name. You can be a father, but certainly your name is not father! Father is a title you receive for having generated or adopted a son.
See! The Lord Jesus did not command to baptize in the name Father, but in the name of the Father
II Thessalonians 2:16, And the Lord Jesus Christ himself and our God and Father, who has loved us, and given us eternal consolation and good hope through grace, Lord Jesus Christ, our God and Father, the word also tells us in Isaiah 9:6: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders: and his name shall be called: Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Father of eternity, Prince of Peace. The child that would be born would be called Mighty God and Father of eternity. The Lord Jesus is the Father of Eternity, the Baptism is in the name of that father, and not in the name Father. This is the true name of the Father, for the name Jesus means, Jehovah savior, or Jehovah is Salvation. See Matthew 1:23, Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name EMMANUEL, which being interpreted is: God with us. the Lord Jesus is this God with us.
In the name of the Son.
You also are a son, for you were certainly born, but your name is not son! The word son is a common noun that indicates a person who has a proper name, and in baptism the name of the Son must be used, not the name son, Matthew, 1:21: And she shall bear a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for he shall save his people from their sins. There is no doubt about the name of the son, baptism is in the name of the Father, and in the name of the Son, and not in the name father and in the name son, think about that!
The name of the Holy Spirit.
There is a spirit within you, but when someone calls you, you only answer if the person calls you by your own name and not by spirit, Holy Spirit is not a proper name of a person, but Holy Spirit is an adjective, adjective is the word that gives quality to beings, Holy Spirit, baptism must be in the name of the Holy Spirit, and not in the name Holy Spirit.
JO 14:26, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
He that is sent in the name of someone cannot do everything he does in his own name, but in that of him who sent him, the revelation is here”!
JO 14:16, And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
JO 14:17, Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.
See well beloved, for he dwells with you, and shall be in you, who dwelt with him? The Lord Jesus spoke, you know him! How can one know a spirit?
The Lord Jesus did not command the disciples to repeat his words, but commanded them to baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and not in the name Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
See the baptisms that were performed in the Bible, and in what name they were made, there is not a single baptism in which the titles Father, Son and Holy Spirit were used.
In the book of Acts 2:37,38, the Bible tells us about the first conversions, that is the first baptism performed in the name, pay close attention and meditate in prayer!
1 Acts 52:37, And when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Acts 2:38, Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Note! The baptism was performed only in the name of the Lord Jesus, this is the name the prophet Joel spoke, Joel :32, And it shall come to pass that everyone who invokes the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Acts 2:39, For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Now note that this is the fulfillment of the prophecy of the prophet Joel, see what Joel said: Joel 2:32, as the Lord has said, and in the remnant, whom the Lord shall call.
Peter spoke and to all as many as the Lord our God shall call, Joel said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call, beloved meditate! the Bible does not contradict itself, it fulfills itself, receive this baptism for it was prophesied by the prophet Joel, and was fulfilled in the book of Acts chapter two and verse thirty-eight, see more!
CL 3:17, And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Note! Everything that is done in word or deed must be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, everything is everything!
EF 4:5, One LORD, one faith, one baptism; here the Bible tells us that there is one Lord, there are not two or three, when the Bible tells us about one faith, it is telling us about one way to believe, one Lord, one way, that there are not two or three ways to serve the Lord, but one way, that is, one faith; one baptism, that is in the right way , if you were baptized two or three times, but were baptized the wrong way, you can certainly be baptized again, but in the right way, which is, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
EF 4:6, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. There is one God there are not two or three, there is one God, Deuteronomy 6:4, Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.
RM 9:5, Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. The Lord Jesus is God blessed forever, amen and amen. There is no other God, there is one name for salvation and one God.
2 TS 2:16, And the Lord Jesus Christ himself and our God and Father, who has loved us, and given us eternal consolation and good hope through grace,
JO 10:30 I and my Father are one. If they are one, if they are one, there is one name for baptism, see! Matthew 28:19,Baptizing in name, one name alone.
When Philip full of authority began to preach the gospel in Samaria many believed, Acts 8:2, But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
1 In what name were these people baptized? Let us see; Acts 8;15,16, Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit.
(For on none of them had he yet fallen: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. These people were baptized only in the name of the Lord Jesus, there is no doubt beloved, accept this baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus!
Cornelius and his house were baptized invoking the Name of the Lord
The Bible tells us that it is necessary that every family in heaven and on earth receive the name of the Lord Jesus, EF 3:15, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.
Paul was also baptized in the Name of the Lord.
JO 20:28 - And Thomas answered, and said unto him, My Lord and my God! Thomas' first confession after becoming a Believer was, My Lord and my God! He received the revelation and exclaimed, My Lord, Jesus, this is the name of the Lord.
FP 2:11, And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord, for the glory of God the Father.
AT 19:1, And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, AT 19:3, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Spirit since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Spirit. AT 19:5, And when they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Look well! They were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, this is the true name that must be invoked at the time of baptism, according to the word of God.
Acts 2:14, Peter, however, standing up with the eleven, and said, that what was happening was said by the prophet Joel.
