Worshippers or artists?
When it comes to youth worship, many already think of a worship service with different hymns, upbeat, with loud sound and even say that if it is not like this it is not a youth worship. But this should not be the thinking of worshippers who belong to the Lord's Work.
We live in difficult days in which many think that the church of Christ must proceed in the same manner as religious organizations, in which people think that because they are full, they are going through a great revival. In truth, many confuse revival with "movement", that is, they think that because these organizations have their temples filled it means a great and powerful revival!
Unfortunately, they are full... Of empty people!
In the area of music many of the so-called "Christian" musicians have brought the reality of the world into the denominations, not only in the lyrics of the songs, but also in their rhythms, their loud sounds, and even more so, in behavior, in lifestyle, in concepts, in values, etc. and this cannot serve as a model for us, because it does not align with our faith.
Revival begins with brokenness, with repentance, with a change of mind and heart! We need to pray, cry out and ask the Lord to bring upon us a true revival, then we will be transformed! (Jr.33:3).
"Artists"... Model of the world
As I have already said, many musicians called "Christian" have imitated worldly models, they want to be known as artists and pop stars! They imitate secular artists, they are proud, arrogant, demanding and selfish. They seek platform and visibility, they want to be recognized, they consider themselves stars and want to "shine"! If we fit into this model, we should know what the Bible declares to us: "Behold, you are of no account..." - Is. 41:24.
To the Lord belongs the praise and all recognition: "... the praise, and the glory, and the wisdom, and the deeds of grace, and the honor, and the power, and the strength be to our God forever and ever. Amen." - Ap.7:12.
"Worshippers"... Model of God
The Father is seeking true worshippers! (Jo 4:23). The musician who is a true worshipper is not a "star" and not a "pop star", and neither does he have any kind of commitment with this kind of glory, but he is a psalmist, minister of the altar, he is known as a true servant and man of God! (II Cr.29:11).
It is that musician who besides executing his art, is consecrated to God and set apart for Him; and certainly, he knows about the need for the anointing of the Holy Spirit in his life, as well as in his music. He is a musician approved by God and by men, for his fruits accompany him! (II Tm 2:15). Observe the example of David (I Sm. 16:14-23) who was approved by God and by men.
Thus, the main challenge for us is to be true worshippers with all our heart, without mirroring ourselves in any kind of worldly art, with hymns that speak to the soul and magnify the restorative power of our God.
